Bodhi only just glances over his shoulder as Dorian lets himself out. The blood is pounding in his ears, too loud to let anything else be heard.

Galen wants him. Galen wants to marry him. Galen will marry him. Even after- after Lyra. After everything.

"Galen, I- Is this real?"

"Everything," Galen says. "I want you for keeps, and what better way than to make a vow? I hope the Guardians won't give you a hard time over it, though."

Marriage is a public thing. Other people involved with the couple do get to have an opinion.

"I'll talk to Baze. He's... more understanding. But in the end, it's not their choice. You're my choice. You're the one I want to be with."

[galen_erso]

"As you are the one for me," Galen says. "I just want to take your friends into consideration. Marriage has always been a social thing -- not just two people, their friends and families, too."

[imthepilot]

"I'll talk to them." Bodhi shrugs dismissively. "They'll either be okay with it. Or they won't. And Teja. We should tell him."

[galen_erso]

"We should," Galen agrees. "He will probably want to make us rings."

"I'd like that. He makes such beautiful things." He thinks for a moment. "Andrew too." It occurs to him that he hasn't made that many other friends here.

"Yes," Galen says. "And perhaps even the doctor who looks like me?"

Bodhi nods, arms resting on Galen's waist. He studies Galen's lovely eyes, his smile
How could he have mistaken the doctor for this man. For the love of his life.

"You look at me as if I was something rare and precious," Galen says, before kissing him.

"You are." Bodhi frowns. "You are rare and precious. More than you can ever know."

[galen_erso]

Galen kisses him again. "I don't deserve to feel so loved and desired," he says. "Apart from my work, I'm not much use."

Bodhi gives Galen a squeeze and a shake. "Galen! You are more than your work! It wasn't your work I fell in love with! It was you. It is you."

"But what about me?" Galen asks, baffled.

It's clear he's not dishing for compliments but genuinely, doesn't know.

"You're the reason I love you. You. Your silly jokes, your crooked smile. Your eyes. The way I feel when you look at me. That's what I love."

"Oh."

Galen blushes again.

"Should I be worried? That you're surprised by that?" Granted Bodhi's pretty surprised Galen wants to marry him but only because it never occurred to him Galen would want to remarry.

"Not so much surprised as touched," Galen says, leaning in for yet another kiss. "Hearing this feels so good."

"Galen Erso - the man who invited himself for a meal rather than bawling me out for arguing with his scientist. The man who gave me a reason to keep coming back to a soggy jagged world. Who gave me someone to care about seeing. The man who I fell in love with so fast it almost scared me."

He kisses Galen slowly, deeply. His hand moves to the burn scar on Galen's side. "A man I would have died to protect. Without a second thought. A man I did die for. And would have died again without."

"I know," Galen says, humbled. "It's just -- the things you said are so personal and human and normal. With all the drama being g done now."

[imthepilot]

"Now we're just us. Just here." He tangles his fingers in Galen's and bring them to his lips. "Making cheese and building irrigation systems. And waking up in each other's arms."

[galen_erso]

"And cats," Galen says. "All the good domestic bits."

[imthepilot]

"Just so long as I get to wake up next to you, that's all I ask. We don't have to get married or tell anyone. Just so long as you keep smiling at me the way you do."

"But I want to get married to you," Galen says. "In addition to all the rest. I like the idea."

Pause.

"My future husband."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi feels his heart flutter and his breath catch. His wide eyes shine with tears. "Galen. My Galen. My husband."

[galen_erso]

A blinding smile.

"Yes I will be!"

[imthepilot]

He takes both of Galen's hands in his. "As I'll be yours." he answers in what feels like a ritual promise.

Galen takes his hands and looks at him with deep love and wonder in his eyes.

[imthepilot]

Bodhi holds his eyes, drowning in them. In Galen's blood warm eyes.

He feels himself blush and breaks the eye contact to kiss Galen deeply.

"Are these any special rituals? From Grange?"

[galen_erso]

"Grange does it just like everywhere in the Galaxy," Galen says. "What about rituals from Jedha?"

"It's not a big thing and not everyone does it but... On Jedha the couple... Make a gift for each other. Something just for each other." he looks embarrassed. "You don't have to of you don't want to. It's just a thought."

"I want it," Galen says. "I like the idea!"

[imthepilot]

"It's something you do in secret, alone or with the help of friends. Something you don't show the other person till... till you're alone together... afterwards."

[galen_erso]

"I like that even more," Galen says, already scheming.

[imthepilot]

"The last secret before we share everything." Bodhi smiles, drawing Galen in for a kiss.

Galen doesn't say anything for a bit, instead concentrating on the kiss.

Then, "There will be more secrets, when I find you anniversary gifts and the like, sorry."

Bodhi laughs breathlessly, resting his forehead against Galen's. "There will be surprises for both of us."

"Then let's say surprises aren't secrets but gifts," Galen says. "Because the astonishment is part of the fun."

[imthepilot]

"Much better." He gives Galen a gentle tuck towards the couch, wanting to curl up with his love. His husband to be.

Galen sits where Dorian got up, wrapping Bodhi in his arms. Of course, Kyber comes too.

"Hello, little one." Bodhi chuckles, shifting an arm to make room for his in their lap. "Yes, and we'll include you too. And Myrrh."

[galen_erso]

"We know people who speak cat, so we can actually explain it to them," Galen says.

Whether they will actually do what they're asked remains open; they are cats.

Bodhi brightens, "I'd like that. Very much. To let them know what we're doing. And how much they mean to us."

[galen_erso]

"And to ask them to be part of the celebration in some cat appropriate way," Galen says.

Hailing from a galaxy with a plethora of sentient species, he still isn't convinced cats aren't people. The are much closer to Ewoks than to banthas, in any case.

Bodhi strokes Kyber's ears, laughing as the kitten rolls over to show his tummy. Bodhi has learnt the hard way that can be a trap. But he tickles Kyber anyway. "Yes. That's a good idea."

Myrrh calls from the balcony, slipping in the cat door and strolling over to join them. "The whole family."

Galen picks up Myrrh and cuddles her. 'Of course they are part of this!"

Bodhi strokes Kyber absently, watching Galen and Myrrh. He wants to cry or laugh or something. There's so much emotion welling up in his chest he can barely bear it. "I love you." The words are too small. Frustratingly small.

Galen leans into Bodhi, touching his cheek to Myrrh's fur. "I'm happy," he states, the words to small as well. "I'm so happy about this because I love you, too, quite fiercely."

"Fiercely is a good word for it." Bodhi smiles, content just to sit here with them for as long as they can.
