 Bodhi has the cook-top running and the kitchen full of the scent of spices before Galen gets out if the fresher.

He waves a stick of some stingy herb at Galen. "You are a terrible temptation. And a distraction." And his smiles says he loves Galen for it.

Bodhi's less careful but he knows how much he can take. "I'm tempted to dry what's left, so it'll last." Always looking to the future. Looking for ways to avoid waste. Something in his frugal childhood always there, always pushing him to make the most of every opportunity.

"We should," Galen says. "Who knows when you can get more fresh."

Not in the Empire.

[imthepilot]

Bodhi shakes his head. "We don't have a firm plan yet but already we're laying in supplies. We're really doing this." It isn't a question. More of a realisation. Something he already knew but wasn't ready to acknowledge.

[galen_erso]

"We're doing this," Galen says. "Freedom, family, and a future together."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi reaches across the table to squeeze Galen's hand. "I love you."

[galen_erso]

Galen closes his callused fingers around Bodhi's.

"And I love you, so very much," he says. "That's at the root of all of this."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi nods. Love between them but also love for Galen's daughter. And a chance of freedom for all of them.

There's so much planning to do. "I'm going to have to master this new ship quickly." He's never asked what their timeline is. Galen is the one with the connection to the Force. He figures Galen will know when the time is right. It's up to Bodhi to be ready.

"But as thoroughly as possible," Galen says. "That awkward space turtle might have to go where no awkward space turtle has gone before."

Bodhi nods. "We don't know what we'll need it to manage yet. So the more I know about how it handles and what it can do, the better off we'll be."

"You'd think the way the Empire shipyards build these things, they'd all be the same but ships are like people. They have eccentricities."

[galen_erso]

"That's what I heard," Galen nods. "It must still be hard for you to give up your old ship."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi shrugs, not quite looking Galen in the eye as he eats some more, fiddling with the seasoning. "Another one of my grandmother's adages - things are things, people are people. Things can weigh you down. People should lift you up."

[galen_erso]

"As you do me."

Not said sappily, stated as dry fact.

[imthepilot]

Bodhi flushes warmly. Dry fact or not, it still makes him feel sappy. "Literally, once I have a ship again." Covering much?

[galen_erso]

"Yes," Galen says. "I will fly with you, then."

[imthepilot]

"How long? Since you've been off-world?"

[galen_erso]

"Years," Galen says. "Not more than two or three times since..."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi gets up to pull Galen into a hug. "I'm going to take you away. We're going to leave here. Together. I'm going to show you the planet-rise."

[galen_erso]

Galen ist happy to cling for a moment. "And then, we will rise out of it."

[imthepilot]

Bodhi holds him tight, stroking his hair. "We will rise." He draws back enough to kiss Galen softly. "Together."

He looks Galen in the eye. "Eat. We're going to need all our strength in the days to come."

Galen smiles. He finds he smiles often since Bodhi is better, more than he'd smiled in the last years.

"It's for pleasure, too, not just for strength."

He starts eating.

Bodhi hums an agreement, enjoying his curry, even if it's getting cold. "I should start working out. Just in case."

[galen_erso]

"Throw bigger rocks, kick bigger asses?" Galen says, between two bites.

[imthepilot]

"If needed." He nods. "I'm not a fighter but that doesn't mean I won't. If needed."

[galen_erso]

"We never know what might be needed," Galen says. "I better start working out as well."

[imthepilot]

"We can work out together. If you like?" There's something very appealing about getting sweaty with Galen.
